Dear MSP Families –
Welcome to 2012! I am just now getting used to writing the number “2012.” It is going to be a wonderful year here at Mustard Seed Preschool. There are lots of stories waiting to be told and written here at school this year.
In Devotions for January, we are learning Children’s Shorter Catechism questions & answer #’s 19 – 24. These relate to our “first parents” – Adam and Eve. This week we learn the students’ favorite song: “In what condition did God make Adam and Eve? He made them Holy and Happy.” You have to come by devotions soon to see them sing and dance to this song!
One 4 year old girl exclaimed in devotions “Ms. Kristin, I can’t wait until I go to heaven and get to meet Jesus!” Oh the faith of a child. It inspires us. Thank you for sharing your children with us.
Grace & Peace,
Kristin Henke, MSP Director
Registration Begins for 2012-2013
Applications are now in our office and also online under the “Registration” tab for the 2012-2013 school year. Enrollment is staggered, with current MSP families’ open enrollment period beginning Mon. Jan 15th. It then opens to member families of Christ Community Church on Feb. 1st, then to the general public on Feb. 15th. Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. If you wait to turn in your child’s application, you may not get your first choice of days available.
Mustard Seed Preschool's Inclement Weather Policy
As a reminder, MSP follows the school closures for Franklin Special School District (FSSD). If FSSD is closed due to inclement weather, then MSP will also be closed. If FSSD opens late, then MSP will open at 10 am.
In addition, our home webpage will be updated with current information about MSP’s school closures.
You may also visit www.wsmv.com under their "school closures" tab to see if Franklin Special School District is closed.
If by chance, Franklin Special School District ever announces a weather related closure before 1:00 pm, MSP will also close. If that is the case, please come as soon as possible to pick up your child.
Additionally, if there is a severe weather warning at our 1 pm pick up time, we will not dismiss until the warning has been lifted. We cannot dismiss students during a tornado warning.
Open House Dates Th/Fri Jan 26/27
There are “Tour and Preview” days for potential families to come and get the “flavor” of MSP during devotions and the early morning part of our school day. The Open House dates for this year are Thursday and Friday, Jan. 26 and 27 - at 9 am. Preregistering to attend is suggested but not required. Guests can RSVP to Valerie See at
You are our best form of advertising and promotion to new families. If you are pleased with Mustard Seed Preschool, please let your friends know.

Overheards
Ms. Hillary’s class was investigating their vegetable garden (outside our entrance doors). They pulled up some turnips, and were served them along with a birthday cupcake at the end of the day. Ms. Hillary suggested that they might “get brave” and try a bite of turnip. One 4 year old boy refused, then broke out “I DON’T EAT PLANTS!”
Ms. Hillary went on to let the class know about all the items in their lunches each day that come from plant sources – strawberries, chocolate, bread. It may have blown this little boys’ mind!
In Devotions we were talking about the concept of "forever" and "infinity" as it relates to God as eternal and our souls as lasting forever when we trust Jesus. The 5's students brought up the phrase "To Infinity and Beyond!" and Buzz Lightyear. When asked who invented the idea of "forever" a 4 year old piped up "Disneyworld!"
